Town tests preparedness with annual emergency exercise

When it comes to emergency management, practice makes perfect. 

That’s the idea behind the Town of St. Marys' annual emergency exercise. The exercise brings Town employees and their peers together for a simulated emergency. This year, the simulation was based on an imagined cyber incident that affected the Town’s water and wastewater systems.

Holiday season starts with Kinsmen Santa Claus Parade and lighting of WinterLights

Christmas is looking festive and fun this year in St. Marys!

The holiday season begins in St. Marys on Friday, November 17 as Santa Claus will arrive in St. Marys via the Kinsmen Santa Claus parade. Remembrance Week to continue with service at cenotaph

The Town of St. Marys will continue to honour local veterans with a Remembrance Day service on Saturday, November 11, 2023. The service follows Veterans’ Decoration Day and the St. Marys Legion parade and service that took place this past week.

The November 11 service will start at 10:45 a.m. at the Town Hall cenotaph and will be led by Mayor Al Strathdee. Queen Street will be closed between Peel Street and Church Street North from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. for the event.

Sections of Church Street and Queen Street closed November 5 for Legion parade

Disruption

The following portions of Church Street North and Queen Street East will be closed on Sunday, November 5, 2023, for the St. Marys Legion’s Remembrance Week Parade:

  • Church Street North from Station Street to Queen Street East during the parade
  • Queen Street East from Church Street North to Peel Street South from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m.

The parade will leave the Legion at 12:30 p.m. and proceed to the Town Hall Cenotaph for a service of remembrance.

Section of Church Street South closed for forestry management

Please note that Church Street South will be closed from Jones Street East to Elgin Street East on Friday, November 3, 2023, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. as we finish removing a tree around the Jones Street and Church Street intersection.
