Arena Assistant

IMPORTANT: Subject to applicable human rights exemptions, only candidates who are considered fully vaccinated (according to current COVID-19 vaccination standards) will be considered for employment.

Pay Range: $15.50 - $15.91
Hours of Work: Up to 30 hours/week
Days of Work: Sunday to Saturday (evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed)
Work Location: Pyramid Recreation Centre

Description

The Arena Assistant supports recreation operations by ensuring that recreation facilities are clean and sanitary, in accordance with the applicable policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Custodial tasks including cleaning and sanitizing public spaces within the PRC (meeting rooms, change rooms, players' benches, washrooms, common areas, etc.)
  • Set up and tear down spaces by setting/striking tables and chairs, etc., for meetings, programs, or assist with similar tasks for larger events
  • Assist with ice resurfacing by moving nets, shoveling off snow and ice left by Zamboni, pegging nets for games, etc. 
  • Collect and remove garbage and recycling throughout the facility
  • Shovel snow and apply ice melting material as required

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of Grade 10/completed OSSD
  • Physically capable of climbing and lifting
  • Excellent customer service, listening and communications skills
  • Available to work as late as 12:00 am on weekdays, as early as 7:00 am or as late as 1:00 am on weekends; availability on holidays as needed

Description

As the Finance Clerk, you will assist in the administration of municipal accounting activities to ensure transactions follow municipal policies/procedures, and are in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, and the statutory requirements set under the applicable legislation.

This position has a focus on the verification of financial transactions that occur outside the municipal financial software, ensuring they are properly reported within the municipal financial system.

Responsibilities

  • General ledger maintenance including the preparation and execution of journal entries, balancing and reconciliation of various accounts, subledgers, and bank accounts
  • Work with the Community Services Department to assist in daily financial processes associated with, but not limited to, rentals, programs, and canteens
  • Manage financial transactions related to fire permits, building permits, animal licensing, St. Marys Money, garden plots and any other transactions as required
  • Assist with analysis, research, and reporting of financial policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations as assigned to ensure the accuracy and integrity of account balances
  • As required, provide front counter coverage including providing general information to the public (via phone or in person), accepting payments, and assisting staff

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Finance or Accounting; or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • 1 - 3 years’ financial experience
  • Sound working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principals
  • Computer literacy in a Windows environment, utilizing Microsoft Office applications with intermediate proficiency
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work independently and in a group setting
