Responsibilities

  • Guarantee the safety and care of children in the program in accordance with prescribed standards
  • Plan and deliver curriculum specific to children’s age and individual needs, and assess children’s development
  • Lead the activities of the designated program/room
  • Assign/direct the work and monitor the Educator Assistants in the classroom
  • Administer medication as prescribed by legislation
  • Communicate with parents and guardians

Qualifications

  • College diploma in Early Childhood Education, and Registration with College of Early Childhood Educators
  • Clearance of a Criminal Record Check – Vulnerable Sector
  • Standard First Aid/CPR Level C with AED Certificate
  • Safe Food Handler’s Certification
  • Previous experience working with children in a group setting

Responsibilities

Youth Centre

  • Maintain a welcoming, and inclusive environment for program participants
  • Assist in the effective delivery of the Recreation Services programs
  • Supervise children ages five and up during program activities
  • Help to maintain all necessary paperwork for the day-to-day operation of the program
  • Setup/takedown for programs and ensure cleaning procedures are adhered to
  • Maintain clean and organized workspaces for program activities

Canteen

  • Create a positive guest experience through interaction and respond promptly and courteously to guest requests
  • Accept payments and process routine refunds where necessary (Canteen)
  • Open and close canteen – cleaning, locking, etc.
  • Review and write in communication log to stay update on items related to Canteen that may affect shift

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children in a high energy environment
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends and with minimum supervision
  • Standard First Aid/CPR certification an asset
  • High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development and Safe Food Handling certification an asset
  • At least 15 years old

Work Location: Municipal Operations Centre

Description

This position has a focus on the verification of financial transactions that occur outside the municipal financial software and ensuring they are properly reported within the municipal financial system.

Responsibilities

  • General ledger maintenance including the preparation and execution of journal entries, balancing and reconciliation of various accounts and subledgers
  • Work with the Community Services department in preparation and distribution of invoices and assist in daily financial processes associated with rentals, programs, and canteens
  • Manage the financial transactions related to fire permits, building permits, animal licensing, St. Marys Money, garden plots and any other transactions as required
  • As required, provide front counter coverage including providing general information to the public (via phone or in person), accepting payments, and assisting staff
  • As required, coverage for Service Ontario, including all customer support duties of that position

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Finance or Accounting; or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • 1 to 3 years’ financial experience
  • Sound working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principals
  • Computer literacy in a Windows environment, utilizing Microsoft Office applications with intermediate proficiency
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to work independently and in a group setting

Responsibilities 

  • Create a positive guest experience and respond promptly and courteously to guest requests
  • Resolve customer complaints, provide appropriate solutions and alternatives
  • Advise customers on products and services provided (i.e. SUP rentals)
  • Maintain accuracy when entering information into POS system/cash register
  • Daily reconciliation of transactions at end of shift
  • Assist in inventory control 
  • Report any equipment breakdowns
  • Open and close canteen (cleaning, locking, etc.)

Qualifications 

  • In Grade 10 or higher, working towards completing high school diploma
  • Experience working in a customer service role
  • Problem solving and numeracy skills
  • Ability to interact effectively and courteously with all levels of staff and contacts
  • Knowledge of basic computer functions
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Description

Reporting to the Cultural Services Manager, the Curatorial and Programming Assistant provide support in the day-to-day operations of the St. Marys Museum and Archives through providing front-line customer service, working on artifact and archival collections management projects, conducting research, and planning and leading educational programs.

Responsibilities 

  • Work on specified collections management and/or archival projects, under supervision, such as care of collections, historic research, digitization, completing artifact condition reports, photographing artifacts, data entry using PastPerfect collections management software
  • Develop collection-based exhibits on themes relating to local history; includes research, writing and design of original text panels, selection and display of artifacts
  • Develop and lead on-site and outreach programs for various ages, such as school groups, adult day programs, retirement homes, etc.
  • Greet visitors and provide them with the information and assistance, including leading museum tours, assisting archival researchers, and facilitating gift shop transactions
  • Plan, promote and implement museum-sponsored community events and programs such as the Christmas Open House and Heritage Fair

Qualifications 

  • The selected applicant must be able to meet the specific Young Canada Works grant requirements:
    • A Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada (non-Canadians holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent status are not eligible)
    • Are between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
    • Are willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment
    • Will not have another full-time job (over 30 hours a week) while employed with the program
    • Are a college or university graduate
  • Preferred field of study – English, History, Geography, Anthropology, Communications, Museum Studies, Library and Information Studies or another related field
  • Previous experience in a museum or education setting preferred.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Applications and experience working with digital images.
  • Ability to work some weekends to support programming

Description 

This position will connect with past volunteers and updating their personal information, ensuring all paperwork required is current and applicable or retiring. This position will review all current volunteer policies, practices, and forms, identifying inconsistencies and updating as required. This position will perform an inventory of all corporate volunteer role descriptions and support departmental staff to update content as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Greet residents and provide them with the customer service support. This includes leading facility tours, assisting with selling programs and services including front line promotion, registration, and financial transaction.
  • Support the Corporate volunteer program. This includes contacting volunteers and updating their personal information, ensuring all paperwork required is current and applicable.
  • Review all current volunteer policies and practices and forms identifying inconsistencies, updating as required.
  • Perform an inventory of all corporate volunteer role descriptions, review all current volunteer role descriptions and support departmental staff to update content and format as needed.

Qualifications

  • Completion of Grade 10
  • 4 months experience in a relevant setting (Customer service, hospitality, recreation, or administration)
  • Ability to listen attentively to patrons and provide exceptional customer service
  • Ability to work independently
  • Intermediate computer skills – advance skills with Microsoft Office Suite are preferred
