Town of St. Marys ends State of Emergency

After more than two years, the Town of St. Marys is ending its State of Emergency. The municipality declared an emergency on March 19, 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The decision was led by Mayor Al Strathdee and supported by Town Council and staff.

Town offering grant funding for community improvement projects

The Town of St. Marys is offering money to local business and landowners who are working to beautify and revitalize their community. A minimum of $50,000 is available through the Town’s Community Improvement Plan, which allows the municipality to invest in projects led by private property and business owners.

The St. Marys Child Care Centre will run as usual until Council can review the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) agreement.

On Monday, March 28, the Province reached an agreement with the federal government to provide $10-per-day childcare for children aged six and under by September 2025. Aquatics Centre pool estimated to reopen Tuesday, April 19

Replacement of the pool’s boiler is underway at the Pyramid Recreation Centre.

  • Staff are hoping to reopen the pool on Tuesday, April 19, after the Easter holiday weekend.
  • Registration for single visit programs (aquafit, lane swim, family swim, pool rentals etc.) for April 19 and onward is back open on ActiveNet. If you were already registered prior to the shutdown, there is no need to re-register.

Masks no longer required at most municipal facilities

Starting today, visitors to most municipal facilities in St. Marys will no longer need to wear a mask or face covering. The Town is removing its mask mandate to align with the Province of Ontario’s plans to ease COVID-19 restrictions.

The only exceptions are the St. Marys Child Care Centre and the Town of St. Marys EarlyON Centre. Parents, caregivers and staff will be required to wear masks at these facilities until April 4, 2022.
