A long list of firefighters have earned the Fire Service Exemplary Medals and Fire Services Long Service Medals for a combined more than 220 years volunteering for the St. Marys Fire Department.

On May 31, 2021 the flags at Town Hall, Municipal Operations Centre and Pyramid Recreation Centre have been lowered to half-mast in memory of the 215 children found at the former Kamloops residential school.
