Effective immediately today, Monday, July 27, and thanks to consistent enough rainfall over the past week, the open air fire ban has been lifted in the County of Perth, including the Town of St. Marys. Funding will be used to launch “Friendship Centre Without Walls”

The St. Marys Friendship Centre has been given a funding boost. The centre recently received $20,000 from the Stratford Perth Community Foundation through the Government of Canada’s Emergency Community Support Fund.

The centre is using the funding to launch a new “Friendship Centre without Walls” program. The initiative is an expansion of the current Community Wellness Program, which was started in March in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The public boat launch located at Milt Dunnell Field will be closed between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday starting on Wednesday, July 15, 2020.

The closure is due to work being done on the face of the nearby Mill Dam. The boat launch will be used by workers to access the dam.
