VIA Staff Disruption at St. Marys VIA Station

The VIA Station will be open during all regular shifts, and there will be a customer service representative at the Station during all shifts. However, the staff on duty may not be able to sell or refund tickets.

Thank you for using the Town of St. Marys VIA Services. We regret to inform you that we are currently experiencing a disruption in our services because we need to hire and train new staff.

Queen Street line painting to resume on Tuesday, August 23 at 9 p.m.

Queen Street line painting was delayed late last week due to poor weather conditions and unforeseen mechanical issues. The work is scheduled to resume this evening (Tuesday, August 23). To minimize disruptions to pedestrians and traffic, most of the work will be completed Tuesday and Wednesday between approximately 9:00 p.m. and 6 a.m. both days. Line painting may extend (weather permitting) into Thursday morning. Drivers and pedestrians are asked to observe on-site traffic control measures.

Due to construction progress, parking is once again allowed on Queen Street, effective immediately. In the absence of parking stall lines, the Town is reminding drivers to be mindful of spacing between vehicles.

No parking on Queen Street resumes Friday evening at 11 PM until 6 AM Saturday in order to allow crews to paint parking stall lines.

Queen Street paving rescheduled to Thursday, August 18 and Friday, August 19 due to rain

Due to construction delays caused by rain on Tuesday, August 16, the Town has rescheduled Queen Street paving to Thursday, August 18 and Friday, August 19.

There will still be a minor disruption on Wednesday, with Thomas Street between Queen Street and Jones Street closed from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for water system repairs.

On Thursday starting at 4 AM, there will be no parking on Queen Street from Peel Street to Water Street. Local traffic control will be on site.

Outdoor Fire Ban Lifted

Effective immediately, all Fire Departments in Perth County, including the Town of St. Marys, have lifted the ban on open air burning due to the significant amount of rainfall.

Residents are reminded to follow all municipal burning regulations and permit requirements. Details about the open-air burning regulations and requirements can be found on the Town’s website at http://www.townofstmarys.com/en/living-here/Open-Air-Burning.aspx.
