Town of St. Marys Fire Chief Richard Anderson is reminding local and area drivers to heed the law and Driver’s Handbook when reacting to approaching emergency vehicles.

“When responding to recent calls, I have noticed some drivers not pulling over or getting nervous and stopping right in the middle of the street,” said Chief Anderson. “These actions delay emergency vehicles and increase the danger of collision for both drivers and emergency responders.”

St. Marys Town Council votes on alternative policing options

Following a public meeting on January 10, Town Council voted in favour of seeking approval from the Ontario Civilian Police Commission to bring the Stratford Police Service to St. Marys. At a special meeting on Wednesday, December 21, members of Town of St. Marys Council voted to deny a request for funding from the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum (CBHFM). The organization was seeking a grant from the Town to support a 6.2 million dollar expansion of its current site into a museum campus.
