The Town of St. Marys is hosting a variety of events during National Drowning Prevention Week (July 15 to 21) to highlight the importance of water-safety.
According to the Lifesaving Society approximately 500 Canadians die in in preventable water-related incidents each year.

In the first six months of 2018, St. Marys’ volunteer firefighters spent over 2,000 hours of their personal time upgrading their skills in order to protect the community.
“This is all time away from our families, and in some cases, our jobs,” said Fire Chief Richard “Andy” Anderson.

Disruption
The St. Marys VIA Rail station will be closed from 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 1, 2018. Tickets will be available for purchase on the train.
The station will re-open at 7:45 am on Monday, July 2, 2018.

Disruption
The two north courts of the St. Marys Tennis Courts will be closed from 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 28 until 8:00 a.m. on Friday, June 29 to allow for the painting of pickleball lines.
The two south courts will remain open throughout the disruption.
