Town Council holding meetings to review the draft 2023 municipal budget

St. Marys Town Council is holding special meetings over the next few months to review the draft 2023 municipal budget. Residents are welcome to attend in person at Town Hall Council Chambers. The meetings will also posted to the Town of St. Marys YouTube channel.

The draft budget – which is currently available on the Town’s website – proposes a 3.7% increase on the municipal tax levy. The proposed increase will add approximately $150 to a typical residential property.

Museum hosting a special event to celebrate the Federated Women’s Institutes of Ontario

The St. Marys Museum is inviting past and present Federated Women’s Institutes of Ontario (FWIO) members to join them at the St. Marys Museum on Thursday, January 12, 2023 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for an evening reception with light refreshments.

In 1959, the St. Marys Queen Alexandra branch of FWIO opened a museum in the historic George Tracy House. The reception will celebrate the 125th anniversary of FWIO, with a special exhibit honoring the local branch.

Aquatics Centre closed December 27 due to mechanical issue

The Aquatics Centre at the Pyramid Recreation Centre has been closed due to a mechanical issue. All registered programs and swims have been cancelled. The facility is expected to re-open on December 28, 2022. 

Town announces closures and cancellations for December 24

The following Town of St. Marys facilities will be closed on December 24, 2022 due to the ongoing winter storm: 

  • The St. Marys Landfill 
  • The Pyramid Recreation Centre (all programs cancelled)

The horse and wagon rides at Milt Dunnell Field have also been cancelled. 

The closures and cancellations will allow municipal staff to focus on clearing snow from roads and sidewalks, following the Town's declaration of a Significant Weather Event on December 23, 2022.

Environment Canada is warning of a “crippling blizzard” that will impact St. Marys starting Friday, December 23, 2022 and into Saturday, December 24, 2022. The forecast includes heavy rain and snow, freezing temperatures, and very high winds.
