Town shares service changes for operating under Step Three of Roadmap to Reopen

Effective July 16, 2021 at 12:01 a.m., the Town of St. Marys will be operating under Step Three of Ontario’s Roadmap to Reopen. Several Town services and facilities will be reopening with public health and safety measures in place. The following outlines changes for operating under Step Three.

Municipal Operations Centre and Town Hall

The Municipal Operations Centre and Town Hall will be open for service beginning July 26, 2021. Waiting area capacities will be limited to accommodate physical distancing. Prearranged appointments and drop-box services are still available; call 519-284-2340 to book. Hours for both locations are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Aquatics Centre

The pool will reopen by August 3 with capacity limits for both pool users and spectators. Hours will be Monday to Friday and programs will be based on demand. Details will be available at townofstmarys.com/aquaticscentre and on the PRC Facebook page as they become available.

Friendship Centre

The Friendship Centre will continue to offer outdoor programming with limited indoor use during inclement weather. Select indoor programming will begin in August. Details will be available on the St. Marys Friendship Centre Facebook page, and in the Friendship Centre’s most recent newsletter at townofstmarys.com/FriendshipNews.
The Friendship Centre will continue to offer health services such as Footcare and Blood Pressure Screening, as well as virtual and telephone programs. Community Wellness Programs including meal delivery, social connection calls and shopping support will continue. Those coming to the PRC for Friendship Centre health service programs must use the Friendship Centre entrance.

Youth Centre

In-person activities for the Youth Centre will remain closed. Youth-based virtual programming will continue. The Youth Centre will prepare for in-person programming in September.

Camp PRC

Camp PRC registration continues to be available online at www.townofstmarys.com/campPRC. Camp programs will run until September 3 and will adhere to all COVID-19 regulations set out by the Government of Ontario, including physical distancing.  

St. Marys Public Library

The Library is open for in-person services, while asking patrons to maintain physical distancing. Curbside pick-up will continue, as will home delivery upon request.  The Library will not issue fines while still under COVID-19 restrictions.  Staff will be offering some outdoor storytimes throughout the summer. Visit stmaryspubliclibrary.ca for hours of operation and program details.

St. Marys Museum

The Museum will reopen on Tuesday, August 3 for drop-in museum tours, with capacity limits and other safety protocols in place. The Archives will also reopen on Tuesday, August 3 for pre-booked research appointments only. Hours will be Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

St. Marys VIA Rail Station and Station Gallery

The St. Marys VIA Rail Station is open daily for customer service and ticket sales from 7:45 a.m. to  8:45 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Station Gallery will reopen July 23 with capacity limits to accommodate physical distancing. Details will be announced on the Town’s Facebook page.

Playgrounds and Outdoor Recreation

Tennis and Pickleball courts are open and subject to restrictions. Soccer fields and baseball diamonds are open for sports leagues and events with no restrictions on total number of participants. Spectators wearing masks are permitted, with a maximum capacity of 75 percent.
All municipal playgrounds remain open on a “use at your own risk” basis. Residents are reminded to avoid using playgrounds if they are feeling sick, to wash their hands before and after use, and to practice physical distancing while at our playgrounds.

Quarry

The Quarry is open daily with restrictions. Swim times are as follows: 1:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m., 3:15 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Online registration is required at townofstmarys.com/quarry.

Landfill

The landfill will be open for regular hours of operation. Payments must be made with debit or credit cards as cash will not be accepted.

Yard Waste Depot

Open for regular hours.

Adult Learning Programs

Adult learning will continue with one to one, in-person instruction. Instruction is by appointment, and all necessary provincial safety guidelines will remain in effect. Virtual learning opportunities will continue to be available. Please contact 519-374-8232 or email alearning@town.stmarys.on.ca for more information. New learners are always welcome.

Water Fountains

All four Town drinking fountains (Riverview Walkway, Grand Trunk Trail, Cadzow and Weir) will be operational as of 12:00 p.m., Friday, July 16. Please ensure you follow all health and safety precautions posted at each fountain.
