St. Marys Fire Department receives donation for new equipment

Easter came early this year to the St. Marys Fire Department, when an anonymous person generously donated $12,000 toward the purchase of new firefighting nozzles and helmets.

The person donated the money just prior to the Easter long weekend. According the Fire Chief Richard “Andy” Anderson, the gift could mean the difference between life and death.

Please note the following hours will be in effect for Town of St. Marys facilities during Easter Weekend (April 2 to April 5):

Closed Friday, April 2 and Monday, April 5:

  • Administrative offices (Town Hall and Municipal Operations Centre)
  • Adult Learning
  • Before and After School Program
  • Friendship Centre / Senior Services
  • Mobility Service Offices
  • St. Marys Child Care Centre
  • St. Marys Fire Station
  • St. Marys Landfill (also closed Saturday April 3)
  • St. Marys Museum

Tennis racket and ball

Two nets now up for tennis and pickle ball

In light of the exceptionally spring-like weather, the Town of St. Marys has put up two nets at the courts for tennis and pickle ball. The remaining nets and windscreens will be set up in April as per usual. Residents using the courts are reminded to follow all health and safety guidelines.

Residents may have noticed a new Community Resource Officer during the past two months. Aaron Mounfield started in this role on January 4, 2021 and the Town would like to officially welcome him.
