Town hosting public meeting to consider changes to building permit fees

TAKE NOTICE that the Council for the Corporation of the Town of St. Marys will hold a public meeting on the 28th day of November 2023 at 6:00 pm in the Municipal Operations Centre Boardroom (408 James Street South) in order to consider a proposed increase in fees pursuant to Section 7 of the Building Code Act.

PURPOSE AND EFFECT – The Town of St. Marys is proposing to amend By-law 91-2022, being a By-law to set the fees and charges across the municipality. Specifically, there are fees set in accordance with the Building Code Act respecting construction, demolition, change of use, occupancy, transfer of permits and inspections. The Town of St. Marys has reviewed the building permit fees under Section 7(b) of the Building Code Act. The effect will be to increase the existing fee structure.

Information including estimated costs of enforcing and administering the Building Code Act., the amount of the proposed fee(s) and the rationale for changing (or imposing) fees will be provided in a staff report. The report will be available on the Town’s website no later than 4:30 pm on Friday, November 24, 2023.

ANY PERSON may attend the public meeting and has an opportunity to make written or verbal representation either in support of or in opposition to the proposed fees.
