First event to occur on Saturday, April 15, 2023
The Town of St. Marys is continuing with its Municipal Hazardous and Special Waste (MHSW) disposal days following the success of the program in 2021 and 2022. The Town will host three disposal days this year, with the first happening on April 15, followed by one on July 22 and another on October 21.
Events will run from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. St. Marys and Perth South residents can dispose of their hazardous waste at the Municipal Operations Centre located at 408 James Street South (enter off South Service Road).
Please note that the MHSW depot that was located at the St. Marys Landfill has now been closed, and MHSW material will no longer be received at the landfill.
Items that will be accepted at the disposal event include:
All materials must be sealed and in their original containers with labels. Materials should be transported in the rear of vehicles (trunk, truck bed, etc.), and contained in boxes for safe transport and unloading. Vehicles with materials in the back or front seat will be re-directed to a separate area of the parking lot where they can be moved to the trunk or tailgate. Residents are asked to remain in their vehicles as materials will be unloaded by trained staff.

The Aquatics Centre has been closed to the public since November 2024, to accommodate renovations to the space that would address safety concerns caused by saltwater and high humidity. These renovations were deemed essential to ensure the facility could be used safely and effectively by the community. Due to unexpected recently discovered structural issues caused by saltwater and high humidity stemming from insufficiently sized HVAC equipment installed during the original construction, the renovation work is now expected to extend the closure until fall 2025.
The Town is hosting a drop-in Open House in the EndZone of the Pyramid Recreation Centre on Wednesday, June 18 from 5 to 7 PM. Residents will have the chance to observe the progress of the renovation to date and ask questions.
