The Town provides ideas on how to safely enjoy the holiday season

Residents of St. Marys are reminded to continue to follow recommended public health measures as they head into the holiday season. With both neighbouring regions of Middlesex-London County and the Region of Waterloo now in the Red (Control) level of the Province’s Keeping Ontario Safe & Open Framework, local residents need to ensure they are celebrating in a safe manner.

“We want to thank the residents of St. Marys for doing their part to stop the spread of this second wave.” Said Mayor Al Strathdee. “Heading into the holiday season we want to remind residents, more than ever, to remain vigilant. This holiday season will be different, but it can still be full of cheer.”

There are many ways to celebrate the season safely and perhaps even create some new holiday traditions:

  • Visit Winterlights at Milt Dunnell Field
  • Take in the Holiday Home Tour of lights
  • Shop in town and support our local merchants
  • Connect with family and friends through phone calls, video chat, or online dinner parties
  • Write letters or send cards
  • Deliver gifts or treats, with limited contact
  • Watch holiday or other movies
  • Attend a drive-in or drive-through event.

More ideas and recommendations to celebrate the holidays in a safe way can be found on the Huron Perth Public Health’s Website.

Residents are also encouraged to utilize the Community Wellness Program, which helps people cope with the challenges of living through the COVID-19 pandemic. It provides a range of resources and services to assist those in voluntary or required isolation, including delivery of hot and frozen meals, groceries and other essentials.
