Town encouraging nominations to celebrate National Volunteer Week (April 16 – 22, 2023)
In honour of National Volunteer Week, the Town of St. Marys is encouraging residents to recognize those who give back through its Strong as Stone program.
The program allows residents to nominate individuals whose selfless deeds contribute to the quality of life in our community. Eligible nominees are publicly recognized at Town Council meetings, celebrated in the media, and given an official certificate.
“We are incredibly grateful to all who give their time, talents and energy to help others,” says Mayor Al Strathdee. “The Strong as Stone program recognizes those that have gone the extra mile to make St. Marys a stronger community.”
St. Marys residents of any age, or those from outside of the community whose actions benefit St. Marys, are eligible for nomination. Only volunteer and voluntary service can be nominated; elected officials and those who do good as part of their job cannot.
The nomination process is ongoing, and people can be nominated for deeds that have occurred from March 2020 to the present.
The application form can be completed online at www.townofstmarys.com/StrongAsStone; paper copies are available at Town Hall by advance request to Corporate Communications Manager Brett O’Reilly at boreilly@town.stmarys.on.ca.
