About the program
The Strong as Stone program allows residents to nominate individuals whose selfless deeds contribute to the quality of life in our community. Eligible nominees who meet the criteria noted below will receive public recognition for their good deeds.
Eligibility
The person you would like to nominate must be:
- A St. Marys resident of any age
- A resident of a surrounding community, provided their acts of service benefit St. Marys
The person would like to nominate cannot be:
- Yourself
- An elected politician
You also cannot nominate someone for achievements related to a job for which they are paid or a current public appointment (e.g. Committee of Council).
Criteria
The person you would like to nominate must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Their unpaid volunteer contributions provide extraordinary help to families or groups in St. Marys
- They continually volunteer their time, talent and energy without pay to improve the quality of life in St. Marys
- They have been voluntarily involved in a program or project that has had a lasting benefit for St. Marys and its residents
Process & Deadlines
Please complete and submit the form below to nominate an individual for a Strong as Stone award. Nominations will be accepted until May 2, 2025.
Nominations will then be reviewed by an internal committee.
If your nominee meets the criteria, you and your nominee will be contacted to arrange a public Council presentation, where your nominee will be formally recognized and given a keepsake certificate.
The nominee's good deeds will also be highlighted in the local newspaper and on the Town's social media accounts.
