Queen Street paving rescheduled to Thursday, August 18 and Friday, August 19 due to rain

Due to construction delays caused by rain on Tuesday, August 16, the Town has rescheduled Queen Street paving to Thursday, August 18 and Friday, August 19.

There will still be a minor disruption on Wednesday, with Thomas Street between Queen Street and Jones Street closed from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for water system repairs.

On Thursday starting at 4 AM, there will be no parking on Queen Street from Peel Street to Water Street. Local traffic control will be on site.

Effective immediately, all Fire Departments in Perth County, including the Town of St. Marys, have lifted the ban on open air burning due to the significant amount of rainfall.

An external watering ban for the town has been implemented, effective immediately.

Due to the prolonged warm and dry conditions currently being experienced in the region, excessive water use is putting a strain on the Town’s water production capabilities. The water supply is not recharging and consumption continues to place a growing strain on the system.

To accommodate Emergency Medical Services and ensure pavement quality, the Town of St. Marys will be paving Queen Street between Peel Street and Thomas Street in one day on Wednesday, August 17. Weather permitting, work is scheduled to begin at 4:00 a.m. and estimated to be complete by 6:00 p.m.
