Water Street to Thomas Street Construction begins July 11

Beginning July 11, construction will occur between Water Street and Thomas Street. The project will take approximately six weeks and will include:

  • Replacement of water services
  • Replacement of sidewalk
  • New asphalt
  • Repairs and improvements to the Victoria Bridge

During this phase of construction, no vehicles will be allowed access to the section of Queen Street between Water and Thomas Streets. Queen Street access to the M&M Variety parking lot will also be closed.

Update: For safety reasons, pedestrian access to Victoria Bridge will be occasionally restricted. Watch for signage in the area.

Traffic will be re-routed as per the attached map.


Special Notice to businesses located on Queen Street between Water and Thomas Streets

Businesses located on both sides of the street within the construction zone can expect the following service disruptions during the project:

Brief water service disruptions
A member of the construction team will drop in to notify affected businesses in advance.

Varying sidewalk conditions, including some barriers to patrons with mobility issues
Although front access to stores will be available throughout most of the project via compacted gravel surfaces and ramps, we recommend that businesses begin communicating now with patrons about back door entrances.
