The finish line is in sight for workers and residents in the Huron Street area of St. Marys.

A section of Huron Street has been under construction since April, when the Town discovered that the sanitary pipes under the street were severely degraded. Since then, crews have been working diligently to replace the aging sanitary sewer system.

The underground work is expected to be complete by the end of Tuesday, July 19. After that, the paving crew will follow up in the next two weeks to finish paving the road.

In the meantime, the following streets remain closed:

  • Huron Street South between Queen Street East and Elgin Street East
  • Jones Street East between Brock Street South and St. Andrews Street South
  • Elgin Street East between Brock Street South and St. Andrews Street South

Additional updates about the project will be posted on the Town’s website (www.townofstmarys.com/news), Facebook page (www.facebook.com/stmarysontario) and Twitter account (www.twitter.com/townofstmarys).
