Town, Library and Adult Learning offering free finance-focused webinar series

As part of its COVID-19 relief efforts, the Town of St. Marys is teaming up with the St. Marys Public Library, Adult Learning Programs of Perth and other community partners to offer a free finance-focused webinar series. The three-part series will address the economic challenges presented by the pandemic and will feature speakers with expertise in employment, finance, business development and government.

The series will be presented live on the Town’s Facebook page. To participate through Facebook, simply visit facebook.com/stmarysontario at the scheduled time and the live video will show on the page. A Facebook account is not required to view the video, but you will need an account if you would like to submit a comment on Facebook during the meeting.

Those without Internet access or a Facebook account can also call into the webinar and provide comments through their home or mobile phone. Call details for each meeting are listed below. Advance registration is not required.

The first webinar of the series will feature a panel of experts discussing personal finance and employment-related topics, as well as the pandemic’s impact on personal well-being.

There will be a live question and answer period during the webinar. Community members can ask questions by phone or through Facebook, or submit them in advance to Libraryinfo@stmaryspubliclibrary.ca or 519-274-2122. 

Speakers will include: Andrew Atlin, Chartered Accountant, Atlin and Associates; Andre Morin, Director of Finance/Treasurer, Town of St. Marys; Adam Stapleton, Program Coordinator, Adult Learning Programs of Perth; Deb Hotchkiss, Executive Director, Partners in Employment; and Jenny Mikita, Senior Services Supervisor, Town of St. Marys.

The second webinar will be led by Andre Morin, the Town’s Director of Finance/Treasurer, who will explain the municipality’s current financial relief programs and its plans to provide further economic support to the community. Participants are encouraged to share ideas about the relief measures they would like to see and how the Town can best use its resources to serve those in need.

The third webinar will feature Mayor Al Strathdee and local representatives from the Provincial and Federal governments in a discussion dedicated to the business community. This interactive session will offer local business owners an opportunity to ask questions and learn about the latest financial relief programs offered by all three levels of government.
