UPDATE - Monday, February 25, 2019
Public Works confirmed operation of local Emily Street sub drains last week. All were found to be operating correctly. In order to collect surface water, additional targeted surface drainage inlets will be installed in coming weeks (weather pending). Until these works are completed crews will continue to apply de-icing material and scrape ice build-up when possible.
Public Works is continuing to monitor road conditions near the Emily Street underpass due to ongoing reports and observations of surface water creating ice in the area.
Staff are frequently applying de-icing material and scraping the road surface to improve conditions.
The Town is investigating the source of the surface water in the immediate area. An inspection of local sub drainage systems in the area is scheduled for next week (February 4 to 8). Traffic control measures will be in effect when the inspection occurs.

The Aquatics Centre has been closed to the public since November 2024, to accommodate renovations to the space that would address safety concerns caused by saltwater and high humidity. These renovations were deemed essential to ensure the facility could be used safely and effectively by the community. Due to unexpected recently discovered structural issues caused by saltwater and high humidity stemming from insufficiently sized HVAC equipment installed during the original construction, the renovation work is now expected to extend the closure until fall 2025.
The Town is hosting a drop-in Open House in the EndZone of the Pyramid Recreation Centre on Wednesday, June 18 from 5 to 7 PM. Residents will have the chance to observe the progress of the renovation to date and ask questions.
