The Town of St. Marys is providing an update on the status of select municipal programs and facilities as it continues to follow the re-opening recommendations of the Ontario government.

Parks, trails and greenspaces

Although playgrounds remain closed under the Province’s emergency orders, residents are encouraged to use parks and trails to exercise and get fresh air.

Picnics on the grass in parks are allowed, as long as everyone present is a member of the same household or social bubble, and they remain two metres away from others not from their household. Pavilions remain closed and benches are not being sanitized.

Social gatherings or events of more than 10 people in parks are still prohibited, unless everyone gathered is from the same household.

More information about activities permitted in parks is available at www.townofstmarys.com/covid19.

Camp PRC

Due to enhanced COVID-19 safety protocols and space requirements, the Town has decided not to run its Camp PRC program this summer. Those previously registered in the program should already have received a full refund.

The Town is preparing an equipment rental program to help residents re-create the camp experience at home. Staff are also planning a Town-wide scavenger hunt to help keep would-be campers entertained this summer.

Watch www.townofstmarys.com/covid19 for details, coming soon.

Footcare clinics

Footcare clinics will re-start the week of July 13, 2020. The clinics will be hosted at the St. Marys Friendship Centre, though the building remains closed for all other programs, events and activities.

The first few clinics will be prioritized for those in need of urgent care. Existing clients will be contacted by staff to review new protocols and book an appointment time.

The clinic will operate using guidelines from the Ministry of Health, the Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario and the directives of Huron Perth Public Health. Only one person will be allowed in the footcare room at a time. Staff are requesting that all clients wear a mask; masks will be available for purchase at the time of the appointment, if required.

For more information, call 519-284-3272.

Additional information

Many indoor and outdoor municipal facilities remain closed. As the Province continues to ease restrictions, the Town will carefully evaluate how to re-open its amenities and services safely and affordably. In the meantime, Town staff are available by phone or email, and many services are available online or by appointment. An up-to-date list of the status of municipal services can be found by visiting www.townofstmarys.com/covid19 or by calling 519-284-2340.
