Town offers education session on homelessness

The Town of St. Marys is hosting an educational session about homelessness, facilitated by Grant Martin, the City of Stratford’s Housing Stability Policy and Program Coordinator.

All residents are encouraged to attend to learn what homelessness is, what is being done to end homelessness in Perth County and how you can help.

“As the weather gets colder, homelessness is becoming more apparent in St. Marys.” says Brittany Petrie, the Town’s Community Outreach Worker. “One of the first steps in creating change and challenging stigma around homelessness is to be educated.”

The session will be held on Tuesday, December 13 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Pyramid Recreation Centre (317 James Street South, St. Marys). Please note this session will be recorded and shared on the Town of St. Marys YouTube channel (Town of St. Marys) for those who are unable to attend.

If you know of someone experiencing homelessness or are concerned about a person or family in need of help, please reach out to Brittany Petrie, Community Outreach Worker at bpetrie@town.st.marys.on.ca or 226-261-0098, or City of Stratford Social Services at 519-271-3773 ext. 200 (after hours  call 519-272-2294).
