Proceeds from this charity event will benefit Canadian Tire Jumpstart
In support of Jumpstart Day, the Town of St. Marys is inviting those brave enough to test the cold waters of the Quarry for a swim on May 27 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Admission is free; however, donations to Canadian Tire Jumpstart are appreciated. Canadian Tire will also be holding a fundraising barbecue onsite.
Canadian Tire Jumpstart is a community-based charitable program that helps children eligible according to family income levels participate in organized sports and recreational activities. Last year the program helped over 300 local youth. Most recently, Canadian Tire donated close to $5,000 worth of equipment to the St. Marys Youth Centre through the program.
Individuals wanting to participate in the “Jumpstart Quarry Dip” must sign a waiver, which will be available at the event. Swimmers seven years old and younger must wear lifejackets. Children ages eight and older can swim alone, but only if they have passed the Quarry swim test.
“This is the first time the Town has held a polar dip at the Quarry in support of Jumpstart,” said Ciaran Brennan, Supervisor of Recreation and Youth Services for the Town, who has been working with Canadian Tire to organize the event, “We hope this will be the start of a new tradition, as well as a fun opportunity to support a great cause.”
For more information about the event or access to subsidized programming, contact Ciaran Brennan, Supervisor of Recreation & Youth Services at 519-284-2340, ext. 626 or cbrennan@town.stmarys.on.ca.

The Pyramid Recreation Centre pool is undergoing significant upgrades. The Aquatics Centre has been closed to the public since November 11, 2024, to accommodate renovations to the space. The project involves installing a new HVAC unit and exhaust systems to improve air quality. Repairs are also being made to any parts of the Aquatics Centre that have experienced wear and tear.
Due to unexpected construction delays and supply chain issues, the renovation work is now expected to extend the closure until July 2025.
