Food and monetary donations encouraged

The Town of St. Marys is inviting residents to say farewell to the pink walls of our beloved Town Hall.

On November 28 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., Town Hall will be open to anyone who wants to explore the building before it undergoes a major interior renovation. The building is currently closed to the public as crews prepare to remodel the entire first floor which includes Council Chambers.

The event is an opportunity to learn more, and view displays about the project. It’s also a chance to celebrate GivingTuesday, which falls on November 28 this year. GivingTuesday is a global movement that encourages charitable actions. Those attending the Town Hall event are encouraged to bring an item for St. Marys Library’s food pantry or Friend’s Fridge, or a monetary donation for the local food bank.

St. Marys has celebrated GivingTuesday since 2017, when it was proclaimed by Council for the first time. This year’s theme is “Won’t You Be My Neighbour,” which is being promoted to remind community members that they are a part of something bigger.

Those who are interested in joining the movement can visit the GivingTuesday St. Marys page at www.givingtuesday.ca/partners/givingtuesdaystmarys. For more details about GivingTuesday, visit www.givingtuesday.ca.
