Recreation staff also launching a new part-day camp for ages ten and up

The Town of St. Marys’ Early Learning and Recreation departments are now accepting registrations for July and August full day programs for children and youth.

This year, the Full Day Licensed School Age Program (formerly known as Junior Kids Klub) will take place in the new child care space at the Holy Name of Mary Catholic School. Early Childhood Educators will lead the program, which follows an inquiry-based curriculum, allowing children in Kindergarten up to Grade 2 to learn through play based on their interests.

Camp PRC (formerly Senior Kids Klub) will take place at the Pyramid Recreation Centre. The program will take a new “multi-activity” approach, allowing children in Grades 2 to 6 to enjoy a mix of planned games, sports and crafts. Camp PRC will also utilize the recreation centre’s indoor salt-water swimming pool and outdoor splash pad.

Recreation staff have also created a new Camp PRC 10+ option for older youth wanting to stay active and have fun without committing to the full day program. This camp will run from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. weekdays in July and August. The program includes two hours of games followed by an hour long swim. Youth enrolled in this part-day camp must be able to pass a swim test.

Program dates and a new registration form are available online at www.townofstmarys.com/en/living-here/school-break-care-and-camps.aspx and Guest Services at the Pyramid Recreation Centre. One form needs to be submitted per child. Parents with children of multiple ages can submit all of their forms, regardless of age to Early Learning Services Supervisor Stacey MacDonald; Ciaran Brennan, Supervisor of Recreation and Youth Services; or Pyramid Recreation Centre Guest Services. The deadline to register for full weeks of programming is June 9. Part-day registrants will be placed after that date.
