As of Tuesday, June 9, 2020 residents will once again have access to free hardcopy books, magazines, movies and more, thanks to the St. Marys Public Library’s new curbside pick-up service. The library is offering this service as the building remains closed to the public due to COVID-19.

Patrons can place a hold on items online through bibliocommons (https://stmarys.bibliocommons.com) or by calling the library at 519-284-3346 on Tuesdays from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., and on Thursdays and Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Patrons will be contacted by the library when their items are ready. Pick up is available on Tuesdays from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., and on Thursdays and Saturdays from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.

Patrons are asked to practice physical distancing while picking up their items by standing on the markers painted on the sidewalk. When it is their turn to collect their items, patrons should ring the library’s doorbell; a staff member will greet them and provide further instructions.

“We are committed to providing library services to the community while keeping health and safety top of mind,” said Lisa Lawrence, Acting CEO, St. Marys Public Library. “We thank you for your patience as we become acquainted with curbside service and as services continue to evolve.”

The library has also opened its book drop at the building's Queen Street entrance between Town Hall and Tim Hortons. Patrons are encouraged to return items when possible. All overdue fines incurred during the library’s closure will be waived and fines are on hold indefinitely.

Patrons who prefer to access library materials from home can explore the library's online catalogue of e-books and audiobooks, and free virtual resources by visiting www.stmaryspubliclibrary.ca. The library continues to offer online programming through its Facebook page: facebook.com/stmaryspubliclibrary
