Before and After School and EarlyON programs also cancelled
In an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and following a directive from Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health and the Minister of Education, the Town of St. Marys is temporarily closing the St. Marys Child Care Centre.
The Before and After School Programs that run at Holy Name of Mary School and Little Falls Public School, and the EarlyON programs that run at the Pyramid Recreation Centre and St. Marys Public Library are also being cancelled.
The closures and cancellations will be in effect from Saturday, March 14 to Sunday, April 5, 2020. Although the risk in Ontario and in Huron and Perth for human-to-human spread of COVID-19 is still considered low, there will be no access to the Child Care Centre during the closure to allow for thorough facility cleaning.
The Town will be issuing refunds to parents and caregivers of children who attend the St. Marys Child Care Centre and/or are registered for Before and After School Programs.
We will continue to monitor this rapidly evolving situation and will provide updates as soon as they become available through email, the Town website (www.townofstmarys.com) and social media (facebook.com/stmarysontario and twitter.com/townofstmarys).
Questions regarding the closure of the Child Care Centre can be directed to Jen Lewis, Early Learning Services Supervisor by phone (519-284-2340, ext. 500) or email (jlewis@town.stmarys.on.ca).

The Aquatics Centre has been closed to the public since November 2024, to accommodate renovations to the space that would address safety concerns caused by saltwater and high humidity. These renovations were deemed essential to ensure the facility could be used safely and effectively by the community. Due to unexpected recently discovered structural issues caused by saltwater and high humidity stemming from insufficiently sized HVAC equipment installed during the original construction, the renovation work is now expected to extend the closure until fall 2025.
The Town is hosting a drop-in Open House in the EndZone of the Pyramid Recreation Centre on Wednesday, June 18 from 5 to 7 PM. Residents will have the chance to observe the progress of the renovation to date and ask questions.
