2018/19 seminars will cover outdoor photography, election history and children’s book illustrators

Calling all local history lovers and lifelong learners! The St. Marys Museum’s popular seminar series gets underway for its 2018/19 season on Thursday, September 13, at 7:00 p.m.

Megan Lockhart will reprise her popular presentation “Outdoor Photography” for the season’s inaugural seminar. Megan’s years of working with the St. Marys Museum’s photography archives has made her a local expert in some of its collections, namely Milton Reesor’s photographs from the turn of the century. Megan recently accepted a position with the Oxford County Archives and will be incorporating unconventional outdoor photographs from Oxford County into this round of the presentation.

On Thursday, October 18, Mary Smith and Ken Telfer will present “Election Shenanigans.” Scheduled for just four days before St. Marys’ own municipal election, this seminar will examine some of the humorous and cringe-worthy shenanigans from elections of the past.

November brings a special seminar to coincide with a community-wide exhibit on children’s book illustrators. Janis Fread and Mary Smith will lead this seminar on Thursday, November 15.

The seminars are fundraisers for the Museum. The cost per person is $12 ($10 for Museum members). Space is limited and therefore pre-registration is necessary. For more information or to register, call 519-284-3556 or email museum@town.stmarys.on.ca.
