Residents reminded of rules around all-terrain vehicles

Riding an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) is an exciting way to explore the outdoors, especially during the spring and summer months. However, there are rules in St. Marys that have been put in place to keep both residents and riders safe.

In St. Marys, the use of ATVs is governed by our Traffic, Parking and Boulevard Maintenance By-law. The by-law states that ATVs can only be used on private property, with the consent of the property owner.

This means that ATVs cannot be driven or parked on local roads, boulevards, or trails, or in parks or playgrounds.

Residents who have concerns about ATVs in St. Marys are encouraged to contact the Stratford Police’s non-emergency line (519-271-4141). Riders who are found be in violation of the by-law could be subject to fines through the Provincial Offences Act.

More information about the Parking, Traffic and Boulevard Maintenance By-law can be found at townofstmarys.com/58-2018.
