Town hosting open house at former Mercury Theatre

For the first time in nearly two decades, the doors of the former Mercury Theatre building are being opened to the public.

On Saturday, April 1, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., the Town of St. Marys is hosting an open house at the historic site, now known simply as 14 Church St. N. The event is part of the public engagement process for the Town’s Downtown Service Location Review.

The review is being done to determine the best use of 14 Church St. N and the Town’s other downtown service locations: Town Hall, the St. Marys Public Library, and the St. Mary Train Station. The goal is to make it easier for residents to access municipal services in the downtown area.

“We purchased 14 Church St. N with a vision of creating a campus of municipal services in the core,” says Brent Kittmer, CAO. “Now we’re turning to the public to ask what those services should be, where they should be located, and how they should be delivered.”

All residents are invited to attend the open house at 14 Church St. N to learn more about the Downtown Service Location Review. Attendees will have an opportunity to explore parts of the building, speak to staff, and share feedback on the project. Those who plan to attend should wear warm clothing and closed-toe shoes.

Residents will also have a chance to provide input through a public survey, which will open on April 1, 2023. The survey will be available through the Town’s website; printed copies will also be provided at Town facilities.
