Event planned for 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at The Flour Mill

The Town of St. Marys is trying to brew up some buzz around its budget.

On Saturday, November 4, 2023, the Town is hosting Coffee with Council at The Flour Mill, located at 6 Water St. S. This informal, drop-in event will run from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and is open to all residents and ratepayers.

The coffee will be free, and so will the discussion around the budget. The idea is to give taxpayers a chance to ask questions and make comments in a casual environment. Several members of Council are planning to attend, including Mayor Al Strathdee.

“We invite all residents to come down, have a hot drink, and chat about the budget,” said Strathdee. “This is a great opportunity to meet your councillors and support a local business.”

The Town hosted a Coffee with Council event this past February after Council had met regarding the 2023 budget. This time, the goal is to get feedback earlier in the process to ensure the 2024 budget reflects the wants and needs of ratepayers.

This event is just one of several opportunities for the public to provide input on the budget. Council will meet at Town Hall to discuss the budget on November 21 and December 5 at 9:00 a.m., and January 9 and March 14 at 6:00 p.m. Residents can attend the meetings, submit questions in advance, or view the meetings on the Town’s YouTube channel.
