The popular St. Marys Museum seminar series returns for its eleventh season this fall with two engaging evening presentations.

On Thursday, October 19 at 7:00 p.m., the Museum will hold a seminar about historical facts and superstitions around death. Just in time for Halloween, this presentation will explore Victorian death and dying traditions in early St. Marys. It will also delve into interesting monuments in the cemetery and what they can teach us.

On Thursday, November 16 at 7:00 p.m., the stories of local Amish families in the community will be presented. This seminar will explore the impact of the Amish community in this region, from their arrival in the Wellburn/Uniondale area in 1959 up to their recent out-migration to Michigan.

The seminars are fundraisers for the Museum. The cost per person is $12 or $10 for Museum members. Space is limited and therefore pre-registration is necessary. For more information or to register, call 519-284-3556 or email museum@town.stmarys.on.ca.
