Murdoch Mysteries’ “Secrets and Lies” will soon be revealed!

St. Marys’ bow on the big screen is fast approaching!
On Monday, November 26, the made-in-St. Marys episode of CBC and Shaftesbury’s hit original series Murdoch Mysteries will air – and there will be quite the party to celebrate this memorable community experience!
The Town is hosting a free viewing party for the all-new Season 12 episode, titled “Secrets and Lies.” St. Marys plays itself in this episode, and many area residents served as extras when the filming took place in early August. The episode follows Inspector Brackenreid’s (Thomas Craig) trip to St. Marys to help an old friend find a missing woman, where he learns he’s a lot closer to the case than he thought.
Doors open at 7:00 p.m., with the episode broadcast live at 8:00 p.m. After the airing and an intermission, the Murdoch Mysteries Season 8 episode “Toronto’s Girl Problem” will be shown. Portions of this episode were filmed in St. Marys in 2014, but the Stonetown stood in for Toronto.
Attendees are encouraged to dress in their Murdoch best, to be eligible for Murdoch Mysteries prizes generously provided by CBC and Shaftesbury. In keeping with the episode title, a few surprises will be saved for the viewing party!
There is no need for attendees to RSVP, and the event is free to attend. As St. Marys is a civic partner in the Giving Tuesday initiative, a free-will offering for the St. Marys Salvation Army Food Bank will be accepted at the door. The party takes place in the Community Hall of the Pyramid Recreation Centre.
A slideshow of the filming is being created for the viewing party. If you have photos from the filming that you would like to contribute, they can be emailed to Events Coordinator Andrea Macko at amacko@town.stmarys.on.ca, dropped off on a USB stick to the lower level of Town Hall on weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., or posted to the viewing party’s Facebook event page, “Murdoch Mysteries ‘Secrets and Lies’ Viewing Party.”
Murdoch Mysteries airs Monday nights at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT) on CBC, the CBC TV streaming app and cbc.ca/watch. Following the November 26 episode, new episodes will resume in the new year on Monday, January 7.
