New exhibits, old antiques and a fresh new look

There is something for everyone this autumn at the St. Marys Museum!

The Citizens of St. Marys Gallery will be of special interest to local sports fans. The exhibit, In the Big League, features 17 St. Marys Lincolns alumni who went to play in the NHL. It opened in mid-September and continues until summer 2019.

On Saturday, September 29, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Museum hosts its second Antiques Appraisals event. For a donation to the Museum, participants may bring in three antiques for appraisal by a local expert. Appointments are recommended and can be made by calling the Museum at 519-284-3556.

Following the Antiques Appraisals event all exhibit areas at the Museum will be closed from October 1 to 5, as a number of rooms receive plaster repairs and new paint. Exhibits will be closed but the Reference Room and archival research services will operate as usual.

The entire Museum will reopen on Tuesday, October 8 following Thanksgiving.

“Extra! Extra! Read All About it!” an exhibit examining the importance of local newspapers in St. Marys, closes on Friday, November 9. “A Memory of War” opens in the Richard Holt Military Gallery that same day.

Just in time for the Christmas season, an exhibit on children’s book illustrators opens on Monday, November 26. More information on holiday programming will be announced as the season draws near.
