Town promotes online calendar as “one-stop shopping” for community event listings

There’s a lot to do in St. Marys – and the Town wants to make it easier for residents to participate in it all.

Service clubs, volunteer groups, sports associations and other organizations are encouraged to add their events to the Town’s free online calendar to create a one-stop shop for things to do in the Stonetown.

“We’d like the calendar to become the go-to spot for St. Marys events,” says Brett O’Reilly, the Town’s Corporate Communications and Events Manager. “If all our community groups post their events, the calendar will become a terrific resource for everyone in St. Marys.”

The calendar is intended for events that are open to the public and organized by non-profit and volunteer groups; a full explanation of permissible events can be found on the calendar’s registration page.

Accounts are free and the posting process is simple – just visit calendar.townofstmarys.com to register or to learn more. The calendar can be searched for specific events and dates, and anyone can sign up to receive a weekly email detailing events for the week ahead.

“Having all events in one location also helps groups schedule their events for the year,” O’Reilly adds. “The calendar will reduce overlapping events and make it easier for everyone to plan and participate.”

A full events calendar is also a great tool for visitors. “Tourists and potential residents can see at a glance how vibrant St. Marys is,” says Kelly Deeks-Johnson, St. Marys’ Economic Development Manager. “We are pleased to provide this free platform to the many groups that work hard to make our community such a wonderful place to live.”

The online calendar will serve as a complement to the Town’s annual promotional material. Calendar content will also be featured on the Town’s Facebook (@St.Marys.Ontario) and Twitter (@townofstmarys) accounts.
