Traffic and parking stall closures for Homecoming-Heritage event

Parking stalls will be closed on the section of Queen Street between Water Street and Church Street from 3:00 p.m. to around 7:30 p.m. to allow safer viewing of the Thames Crest Farms and the St. Marys Kinsmen Homecoming Parade. 

Expect traffic delays as the parade departs the Pyramid Recreation Centre at 5:30 p.m., travels up James Street, then turns left on Queen Street to make its way downtown. 

Milt Dunnell Field will be closed to vehicular traffic and parking at 2:00 p.m. for parade set-up. Attendees are encouraged to drop off lawn chairs in advance and to use the new Emily Street steps and walkway for drop-off and pick-up that evening.

The intersection of Station Street and Water Street will be closed to vehicular traffic from 7:30 to 11:00 p.m.

The Grand Trunk Trail will be closed from Salina Street to the Emily Street stairs from 2:00 p.m. to the end of the Rotary Fireworks.

Parking stalls will be closed and vehicular traffic restricted on the section of Queen Street between Water Street and Church Street for the Heritage Festival from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Vehicular traffic will be limited on the section of Wellington Street between Jones Street to Station Street. 

No public parking available at the Opera House lot during the festival.

Alternative downtown parking lots

  • Jones St. E (behind Square One Skate Shop)
  • Elgin St. (Canadian Tire parking lot)

Free Shuttle courtesy of McLean-Taylor Construction

Park at or walk to the Pyramid Recreation Centre (317 James Street South) or to the Wellness Centre (268 Maiden Lane) for a ride to the festivities downtown. The shuttle will run on a continual loop from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 

NOTE: Wellness Centre riders are asked to ONLY park at the north end of the parking lot with the St. Marys YMCA spots and to reserve the south end for St. Marys Memorial Hospital patients and their families.
