The St. Marys Friendship Centre is hosting several exciting programs and events this fall. The Town urges residents to sign up as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
Upcoming programs and events include (but are not limited to):
Ballroom Dancing: September 6 – October 25
Ballroom dancing instructors Stephen and Leonor provide a fun welcoming environment for participants of beginner and intermediate levels. Registration is required.
Zumba: September 13 – November 17
Come and dance, dance, dance! These classes are 60 minutes of music, movement and laughs. Registration is required.
Scrapbooking Garage Sale: September 17 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Pick-up amazing deals on gently used and/or unwanted crafting supplies. Do you want to be a vendor? Contact 519-284-3272 or email friends@town.stmarys.on.ca for more details.
Pickleball: Mondays and Wednesdays: 10:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m., Thursdays: 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Pickleball is a fun sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping pong. Our program is ideal for people who are looking to get exercise and be social. Play is now drop-in.
New Friends Coffee: September 9 and October 7 at 10:00 a.m.
New to the Friendship Centre or new to St. Marys? Drop in for our monthly coffee group to learn all about the programs and services we have to offer!

Railway crossings to be temporarily closed for necessary maintenance by CN Rail on April 22
CN Rail is requiring the Town to temporarily close three railway crossings to carry out necessary rail repairs. The railway crossings will be closed starting Tuesday, April 22 at 6:00 a.m. The work is scheduled to be completed by Tuesday, April 29 at 5:00 p.m. Required repairs include the replacement of damaged rail and track ties, replacement of track ballast, and installation of planking on railway crossings at the following locations:
- James St. S
- Elgin St. E
- Elizabeth St.
A detour will be set up along Huron St. S. and Elizabeth St., as well as along King St. with signage in place to guide vehicles. Travelers are advised to expect delays during the temporary closure and to plan accordingly.
VIA rail will not be impacted by the temporary closures, but it may cause some delays due to reduced track speeds in the area.

Aquatics Centre to be closed for renovations starting November 11
The Pyramid Recreation Centre pool is undergoing significant upgrades. The Aquatics Centre has been closed to the public since November 11, 2024, to accommodate renovations to the space. The project involves installing a new HVAC unit and exhaust systems to improve air quality. Repairs are also being made to any parts of the Aquatics Centre that have experienced wear and tear.
Due to unexpected construction delays and supply chain issues, the renovation work is now expected to extend the closure until July 2025.
