Tickets still available for May 16 presentation in Mitchell

On Tuesday, May 16, Doug Griffiths, President of 13Ways, will lead an interactive talk entitled "13 Ways to Kill Your Community.” Griffiths will explain how attitude is the biggest factor – and roadblock – to building a successful community.  Using his vast experience talking with municipal and community leaders from across North America, Doug combines frightening examples and humorous stories to help find answers to questions that have hindered communities as they try to reach their full potential.

After a successful career in provincial politics, Griffiths stepped away in 2015 to get back to what he really loved – helping build better communities. Griffiths now leads a team of community therapists – a term more accurate than you may imagine – working with people all over North America to help them create brighter futures for their communities.

Securing Griffiths to speak in Perth County was spearheaded by St. Marys Councillor Don Van Galen, who heard him at the 2017 Rural Ontario Municipal Association conference.

“Griffiths’ message of embracing change and growing your community in a positive way really resonated with me,” said Councillor Van Galen. “St. Marys residents, businesses and municipal staff will find this is a timely and helpful discussion on how to manage growth while honouring our heritage and promoting our unique town.”

The Town of St. Marys is working in partnership with the Townships of Perth East and Perth South, the Municipalities of West Perth and North Perth, and Perth County to make the event happen. Tickets are $20 per person and available at the following link: www.eventbrite.ca/e/doug-griffiths-13-ways-to-kill-your-community-tickets-33637367271?utm_term=eventurl_text

The event will be held in a central location in the County, the Mitchell Arena and Community Centre, 185 Wellington Street, Mitchell.  The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for networking, and the keynote talk will start at 7:00 p.m.
