Closures of Huron St. S, Elgin St. E and Jones St. E extended due to ongoing sanitary repairs

Sections of Huron Street South, Elgin Street East and Jones Street East will remain closed until at least May 10, 2022, as the Town of St. Marys continues to perform emergency repairs to the sanitary system.

The work is taking longer than originally expected due to the severe localized degradation of the sanitary pipes.

Impacts to the public

Until April 29, 2022

  • A loud construction pump will be running constantly to maintain sanitary sewer service

Until May 10, 2022

  • Huron Street South will be closed between Queen Street East and Elizabeth Street
  • Driveways in the repair area on Huron Street South will be inaccessible
  • Residents should park on Jones Street East or Elgin Street East and place their garbage and recycling out as normal
  • Elgin Street East and Jones Street East will be closed between St. Andrews Street South and Brock Street South

During the week of May 2 – 6

  • Queen Street East will be closed intermittently from St. Andrew Street North to Brock Street South; a detour route will be in place
