Get ready for a merry and bright season as traditions return!

The Christmas season arrives in St. Marys on Friday, November 19 as the BIA again expands its Merchants Open House into three days of festive events and shopping promotions in the downtown. The lighting of the beloved WinterLights display at Milt Dunnell Field will be live streamed on the Town’s Facebook page at 7:00 p.m.

There’s still time for residents and businesses to show support for the WinterLights display! All it takes to have your name on the donor wall is $100; please contact Events Coordinator Andrea Macko by Monday, November 8 to make your donation and keep this magical display free for all to enjoy.

On Saturday, November 27 Santa Claus will arrive in St. Marys via the Kinsmen Santa Claus parade. The Kinsmen are planning a traditional parade with a departure from the Pyramid Recreation Centre at 7:00 p.m., but with additional safety measures due to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic.

The parade route will be extended to provide more room for spectators. The parade will go north on James Street, pass through the downtown, then turn south onto Water Street. The parade will then turn east onto Park Street to return to the Pyramid Centre. Santa Claus will not stop at Milt Dunnell Field. Local variety show Front Porch Show will offer parade coverage for at-home viewing.

Additionally, participants on floats must wear masks, and no candy or swag may be handed out to spectators. Spectators are asked to socially distance and mask if they cannot. To enter a float or to make a donation to the parade, please complete the form on the Kinsmen website or contact parade chair Andrew Hodges.

The Holiday Home Tour returns after a successful inaugural year in 2020. The map launches on Monday, November 29 on the free Driftscape app and as a downloadable PDF on the Town’s website. If your holiday decorations are among the best and brightest, contact Events Coordinator Andrea Macko with your address and display name.

St. Marys will again end the year with a bang on Friday, December 31 with the Rotary Club of St. Marys’ New Year’s Eve fireworks from the Grand Trunk Trestle at 6:00 p.m.

All events are subject to change as per COVID-19 regulations. Town Council will continue to discuss its re-opening plans at its next regular meeting on Tuesday, November 9.

Be sure to follow the Town of St. Marys’ Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts for more information and updates as events draw near.
