Asphalt resurfacing project to begin October 12

The Town of St. Marys will be resurfacing sections of local roadways starting Thursday, October 12, 2023.

Affected areas

  • James St. S from Victoria St. to Maxwell St.
  • Maxwell St. from James St. S to the west end of Dunsford Cres.
  • King St. S from Jones St. E to Park St.
  • Elgin St. E from Water St. S to Wellington St. S
  • Water St. N from Queen St. E to Trout Creek
  • Water St. S from the St. Marys Cement Plant (585 Water St. S) to the Lind Sportsplex (425 Water St. S)

Paving schedule (weather dependent)

Thursday, October 12
Milling on Maxwell St., James St. S, King St. and Elgin St. E

Friday, October 13
Milling on Water St. N, Water St S, and Elgin St. E (if Elgin St was not completed on Thursday, October 12)

Monday, October 16
Cleanup at all locations to prepare for paving

Tuesday, October 17
Cleanup at all locations to prepare for paving

Wednesday, October 18
Paving will begin (exact locations will be determined closer to the date)

Thursday, October 19
Crews will finish paving in all remaining areas

Impacts to residents

  • There will be no on-street parking permitted in the affected area from Monday to Friday beginning Thursday, October 12 to Thursday, October 19. Vehicles parked on the street during this time will be towed.
  • Driveways and entrances may be temporarily blocked during the milling process (approximately 30 minutes). Patrons will be directed to alternative entrances for businesses.
  • Driveways and entrances may be temporarily blocked during the paving process (up to several hours). Residents and business owners (?) are asked to plan to move vehicles ahead of time to an adjacent roadway and to allow for up to 3 hours after asphalt installation before parking.
  • Curbside garbage and recycling collection will continue as scheduled. Residents in the affected areas are asked to place their bins in front of their houses as normal. Contractors will then move the bins to an accessible pickup location.
