Asphalt resurfacing project to begin July 14

The Town of St. Marys will be resurfacing sections of local roadways starting Monday, July 14, 2025 

Affected areas 

  • Thomas St. from Park St. to the Sewage Treatment Plant 

  • Thames Ave. 

  • Egan Ave. from Wellington St. N to King St. N 

  • Charles St. from Queen St. E to Elgin St. E 

  • Brock St. from Queen St. E to Jones St. E 

  • Jones St. E from Huron St. S to Brock St. S 

  • Elgin St. W from Ontario St. S to Salina St. S 

  • Widder St. E from James St. N to St. John St. N 

  • St. George St. N 

  • St. John St. N 

  • A portion of Thames Rd. N 

  • A section of Glass St. 

Paving schedule (weather dependent)  

Week of Monday, July 14, 2025 

  • Milling the top layer of asphalt,  

  • Maintenance hole adjustments as required 

  • Isolated concrete curb repairs 

Weeks of July 21 and 28, 2025 

  • Milling asphalt of any outstanding areas 

  • Paving of new topcoat of asphalt 

Please note the following during the paving schedule: 

  • Prior to paving, a liquid emulsion will be applied to the existing asphalt surface to enhance the adhesion of the new layer. Please refrain from walking or driving onareas treated. 

  • Construction personnel will be stationed at all construction zone entrances; kindly consult with them before proceeding onto newly paved asphalt to confirm it has cooled. 

  • Parking on new asphalt is not permitted for several days following installation. 

Impacts to residents 

  • There will be no on-street parking permitted in the affected area from Monday to Friday beginning Tuesday, July 15. Vehicles parked on the street during this time will be towed.  

  • Driveways and entrances may be temporarily blocked during the milling process (approximately 30 minutes).  

  • Driveways and entrances may be temporarily blocked during the paving process (up to several hours). Residents are asked to plan to move vehicles ahead of time to an adjacent roadway and to allow for up to 3 hours after asphalt installation before parking. 

  • Curbside garbage and recycling collection will continue as scheduled. Residents in the affected areas are asked to place their bins in front of their houses as normal. Contractors will then move the bins to an accessible pickup location if necessary.
