Firefighter Jeff Sass named Firefighter of the Month for February

This February the St. Marys Fire Department is pleased to announce Jeff Sass as its “Firefighter of the Month”. Sass joined the St. Marys Fire Department as a firefighter in 2001 and is the recipient of the 20-year Fire Services Exemplary Service Medal.

Town seeking input on proposed designs for revamped skate park

A project that started as a dream shared by an unlikely local trio is one step closer to becoming a reality.

Last year, former Royal Family nanny Jean Rowcliffe partnered with teens Quinn and Sully Bolton to launch a fundraising campaign to revamp the St. Marys Skate Park. The group has since secured $100,000 from the St. Marys Rotary Club, along with donations from supporters across the globe.

Town Council holding meetings to review the draft 2023 municipal budget

St. Marys Town Council is holding special meetings over the next few months to review the draft 2023 municipal budget. Residents are welcome to attend in person at Town Hall Council Chambers. The meetings will also posted to the Town of St. Marys YouTube channel.

The draft budget – which is currently available on the Town’s website – proposes a 3.7% increase on the municipal tax levy. The proposed increase will add approximately $150 to a typical residential property.

Museum hosting a special event to celebrate the Federated Women’s Institutes of Ontario

The St. Marys Museum is inviting past and present Federated Women’s Institutes of Ontario (FWIO) members to join them at the St. Marys Museum on Thursday, January 12, 2023 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for an evening reception with light refreshments.

In 1959, the St. Marys Queen Alexandra branch of FWIO opened a museum in the historic George Tracy House. The reception will celebrate the 125th anniversary of FWIO, with a special exhibit honoring the local branch.
