Supporting the Library

There are many ways to support the library that are greatly appreciated. You can make a donation, join or help the Friends of the Library, or volunteer your time. Many volunteers and supports help to make the library a wonderful place to visit, read, and learn.

Donate

The library is honoured to accept donations.  If you are interested in making a donation here are some of the ways donations have been made in the past:

  • Dedicate your donation toward a specific program or library project.
  • Make a donation for a book in honour someone's birthday
  • Celebrate someone's love of the library with a memorial donation
  • Pay for one of the library's magazine subscriptions for a year (or more) for all to enjoy
  • Donate your used books for the library collection or the Friends of the Library book sale
  • Support the Friends of the Library fundraising events

Charitable donations to the library by cheque for $25.00 or more will receive a receipt for income tax purposes.


Friends of the Library

"Libraries are not made, they grow" -- Augustine Birrell

Founded in 1989, the Friends of the Library (FOL) is a group of volunteers who value the Library’s role in serving the learning, literacy, research, recreation and communication needs of the community.

  • As a registered charity, the FOL raises funds in support of enhancements to the Library collections, programs and services.
  • The FOL assists in volunteer activities, and partners with other community groups in helping to promote the Library as a cultural centre.
  • The FOL promotes public awareness and appreciation of the library.

The Friends of the Library is a volunteer run, registered charity which...

  • Raises funds through book sales, Sponsor support of the Newcomers Welcome Packages, and donations from people like you!
  • Provides funding to the library for the Summer Programs, Canada Day celebrations, Movies in the Park, special collections and more.
  • Organizes the Newcomers Welcome Program, and events for newcomers such as monthly socials and information sessions.
  • Engages the community by partnering with St. Marys Community Players and local restaurants to offer theatre and dinner packages as fundraisers.

  • Become a member by:
    • Donating your time or your services, and/or
    • Purchasing a $5.00 annual membership.

  • Be involved in the planning and running of FOL activities and events.
  • Spend time with creative and interesting people, sharing ideas and making contributions for the betterment of the community.

Interested in making a donation?

  • The FOL is a registered charity, and greatly appreciates donations of any amount by cash, cheque, or through Canada Helps (www.canadahelps.org)
