Family Services Perth-Huron

Adult Protective Services: This organization serves adults over age 18 who have a developmental disability and live independently in the community.  An Adult Protective Service Worker (APSW) provides co-ordination of services, advocacy, counselling, and emotional support. Child Care Services: Provides a variety of respite and in-home  support for families that care for an infant, child or youth (to age 18) with a developmental and/or physical disability. The Library Pantry and Friends Fridge was started in September of 2022 to offer members of our community who are living with food insecurity an opportunity to access free food and personal care items without judgement. There is no screening process required to use the pantry. Anyone can use it at any time with no questions asked – simply come in and take what you need. There is also a Keurig Coffee Station located near our Reading Room. Feel free to have a hot drink or use the hot water function to make things like oatmeal or a cup of soup.

The City of Stratford Social Services Department is the provincially designated Consolidated Municipal Service Manager responsible for administering social services in Stratford, Perth County & St. Marys. This includes programs to help residents access housing options that are affordable and meet their needs, situations, and choice. The programs include:
Rent-Geared-to-Income (RGI) Housing: A unit for which tenants pay no more than 30% of their household income on rent. Household income must be below Household Income Limits set by the province.
Housing Stability Bank: Provides one-time housing-related financial support to help households experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness find and keep their housing. Eligibility is based on the household income limits, which vary depending on the size of household. This includes assistance with:

• Rental, energy, last month rent deposit, tenant insurance, moving costs/furniture, home repairs

Rent Support Programs: Government payments that bridge the gap between what a household can afford to pay and what the actual cost housing is.

St. Marys & Area Mobility Services is a member of EasyRide, a transportation service shared by Community Support agencies across Huron and Perth counties. By teaming up and sharing our vehicles and drivers we are able to offer frequent and flexible service. The service provides accessible and volunteer transportation to medical appointments, adult day programs, social excursions, and local errands. Services are available for seniors, individuals recovering from illness or injury and those with varying abilities. Door-to-door service is available seven days a week and booking hours are Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
