Aquatics Centre currently closed for renovations
The Aquatics Centre has been closed to the public since November 2024 to accommodate renovations to the space that would address safety concerns caused by saltwater and high humidity. These renovations were deemed essential to ensure the facility could be used safely and effectively by the community. Due to unexpected recently discovered structural issues caused by saltwater and high humidity stemming from insufficiently sized HVAC equipment installed during the original construction, the renovation work is now expected to extend closure until fall 2025.
Project updates and a reopening date, once confirmed, will be provided through local media, the Town website (www.townofstmarys.com), Facebook (www.facebook.com/stmarysontario) and Twitter/X (www.twitter.com/townofstmarys).
With the end of Daylight Saving Time approaching on November 2, the St. Marys Fire Department is reminding residents to use this opportunity to check their smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms, replace batteries, and confirm expiry dates.
“Changing your clocks is a great reminder to also test your alarms,” said St. Marys Fire Chief Phil West. “Working smoke and CO alarms save lives, and this quick check can make all the difference in an emergency.”
