Bingo Licence

Municipalities are authorized to license charity bingo games with maximum prize boards of up to $5,500.

Licenses

The following types of bingos may be licensed by municipalities:

  • Regular Bingo
  • Merchandise Bingo
  • Loonie Pot Bingo
  • Decision Bingo
  • Table Board Bingo
  • Media Bingo

Bingo application checklist

  • Licence Fee (3% of prizes)
  • Completed AGCO Form
  • A game schedule outlining:
    • Bingo games to be played
    • Winning arrangement of numbers for each game
    • Value of the prize for each game
    • Minimum and maximum payouts for variable prize games
    • Set percentage used to calculate the variable prizes for the individual Table Board Bingo games
    • Price of the bingo paper, if applicable
    • Total value of all prizes offered
  • Name and address of the premises where the bingo event is to be held
  • Any special purchase provisions for used bingo paper exchanged for new paper (e.g., $0.25 instead of $0.50)
  • The starting and ending time for the time slot for the licenced Regular Bingo event and any bingo games played in conjunction with it

Bazaar licence

A bazaar is a sale of goods held to raise money for a charity. Municipalities may issue licences to allow organizations to hold lottery events in conjunction with a bazaar, as long as the lottery events are ancillary to the bazaar.

The following types of lottery events are permitted at bazaars:

Wheels of fortune

  • A maximum of 3 wheels with maximum bets of 2 dollars

Bingo

  • A maximum of $500 in prizes

Raffles and penny auction raffles

  • Raffles with a maximum of $500 in prizes
  • Penny auctions allow participants to buy tickets and choose which prizes they would like to win, with a maximum prize board of $500
