Town of St. Marys Holds Statutory Public Meeting on Proposed Zoning By-law
The Town of St. Marys is inviting residents, property owners, businesses and interested stakeholders to participate in a Statutory Public Meeting regarding the proposed Town-wide Zoning By-law.
The by-law is being developed as part of the Town's ongoing review of its Zoning By-law to align with the updated Official Plan, which was approved by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing in October 2024. The proposed zoning updates are intended to implement the policies and vision outlined in the Official Plan while ensuring the Town's planning framework reflects current provincial legislation and local priorities.
"Updating our Zoning By-law will help ensure it reflects the Town's new Official Plan and current planning requirements," said Grant Brouwer, Director of Building & Planning. "We encourage residents to review the proposed changes and share their feedback with Council."
A Zoning By-law outlines how land can be used and developed within a municipality. It establishes regulations related to permitted uses, building setbacks, lot sizes, building heights, parking requirements and other development standards.
The Statutory Public Meeting will provide Council with an opportunity to hear comments and representations from members of the public before considering the proposed by-law.

Time: 6:00 p.m.
Location: Council Chamber, Town Hall, 175 Queen Street East, St. Marys
In addition to the live-streamed meeting to the Town’s YouTube channel, the recording will be available following the meeting.
Review the Proposed Changes
Residents are encouraged to review the project materials before the meeting. Background reports, technical briefs, the draft Zoning By-law and a redlined version showing proposed changes are available on the Town's zoning review webpage and may also be reviewed by appointment with Town staff.
Submit Comments or Register to Speak
Written comments may be submitted to the Clerk's Office by email at clerksoffice@town.stmarys.on.ca or by mail to Town Hall (P.O. Box 998, St. Marys, ON N4X 1B6). Comments should be received by 12 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.
Those wishing to speak as a delegation at the Statutory Public Meeting must register with the Clerk's Office by 12 p.m. on Monday, September 21, 2026, and include any materials they wish to be distributed with the Council agenda.
