St. Marys set to host the Stonetown Triathlon

The Stonetown Triathlon, organized by the Balance Point Triathlon Club is coming to St. Marys on Sunday, July 5, 2026. Young athletes aged 8-19 will swim in the quarry, cycle our streets and run along the Thames River. This event is set to foster a spirit of community and personal growth, emphasizing sportsmanship and perseverance for all who participate. Proceeds from the event will go to support St. Marys Youth Centre Programs.

This Triathlon is open for any individual between the ages of 8-19 to participate as an athlete regardless of experience. Participants can choose from a variety of race formats, catering to both seasoned competitors and those new to triathlons. Spectators are encouraged to cheer from the sidelines.

“We’re excited to once again host this triathlon and introduce participants to the charm of St. Marys,” says Director of Community Services, Stephanie Ische. “The quarry provides an unforgettable race setting, and we’re proud to share it with visitors from across the region.”

To accommodate the triathlon, the following roads will be closed from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 5:

Thomas St. from Park St. to the Sewage Treatment Plant
Park St. from Thomas St. to Water St. S
Water St. S from Park St. to the entrance of the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame

Impacted residents are encouraged to park on nearby side streets during the event. Residents with mobility issues who require access to their driveway can contact the Public Works Coordinator, Thomas Redman at 519-284-2340, ext. 213 or tredman@town.stmarys.on.ca to make special arrangements.

The St. Marys Quarry will open late (3:00 p.m.) on Sunday, July 5 to accommodate the swimming portion of the triathlon.
